The Magical Šumberk Hill is the fourth trail in the Fairytale experience long-distance trail around Slovenia that is being developed by the Škrateljc institute.

Domžale is a city with a rich history and mysterious nature. Children will be on an extremely important mission on The Magical Šumberk Hill trail. They will help the little fox find her lost straw hat, which is a very important accessory not only for her, but also for all the other animals on Šumberk, and even for all the people in Domžale. Along the way, they will learn about the story of the Domžale straw hats, travel to the prehistory of this region, and discover the magically beautiful Šumberk forest, full of various trees, animals and karst caves. The caves are home to the cave dwarf Domželc and Simon the Beetle, who will guide the children along the way.

The fairytale adventure trail The Magical Šumberk Hill starts at the Češmin Café in Barberry Park (Češminov park) in the centre of Domžale, where you will buy The Magical Šumberk Hill booklet (5€). The path leads along the Kamniška Bistrica river to Šumberk and then circles through Šumberk back to the starting point, where the dwarf hunters will receive a reward for finishing the task. The well-marked trail is 3.54 km long, with an elevation gain of 134 metres. It will take a family about 3 hours to experience all the adventures along the way.

The origin of The Magical Šumberk Hill story is the picture book The Lost Straw Hat written by Uroš Grilc and illustrated by Anka Kočevar. Children, who are familiar with the picture book, will have an even better experience at the Šumberk hill adventure.

Equipment: We recommend hiking footwear and of course some snacks and drinks for the dwarf hunters, who will enthusiastically explore the beautiful nature of Šumberk.

Pravljični Šumberk je že četrta pot v Pravljično-doživljajski transverzali po Sloveniji, ki jo razvija zavod Škrateljc. Po gorsko-pastirskih prigodah na Poti pastirskih škratov na Krvavcu, najbolj zamočvirjeni družinski dogodivščini na Pot močvirskih škratov na Mali plac in popotovanju s polhom rogoviležem v Polhovem doživljajskem parku v Polhovem Gradcu, bomo odprli novo družinsko doživetje Pravljični Šumberk v domžalskem mestnem gozdu.

Domžale so mesto z bogato zgodovino in skrivnostno naravo. Otroci bodo v Pravljičnem Šumberku na nadvse pomembni misiji. Lisički bodo pomagali najti izgubljeni slamnik, ki je zanjo, pa tudi za vse druge živali na Šumberku ter celo za vse ljudi v Domžalah, sila pomembna reč. Pri tem bodo spoznali zgodbo o slamnikih iz Domžal, odpotovali v prazgodovino tega kraja in odkrivali pravljično lep gozd Šumberk, poln raznolikih dreves, živali in kraških jam. V njih domujeta jamski škrat Domželc in hrošček Simon, ki bo otroke vodil po poti. Pravljično-doživljajska pot Pravljični Šumberk se prične v Kavarni Češmin v Češminovem parku v središču Domžal, kjer boste dobili knjižico Pravljični Šumberk.

Pot nato, vodi ob Kamniški Bistrici do Šumberka in nato krožno preko Šumberka nazaj na izhodišče, ker škratolovce za opravljeno nalogo čaka nagrada. Pot je dolga 3,54 km, na njej boste pridelali 134 nadmorske višine. Pot je dobro označena, za vsa doživetja na poti pa bo družina potrebovala okoli 3 ure.

Izhodišče zgodbe o pravljičnem Šumberku je slikanica Izgubljeni slamnik Uroša Grilca in ilustratorke Anke Kočevar. Otroci, ki slikanico poznajo, še močneje doživljajo pustolovščino na Šumberku.

Morda pa ob priliki ujamete tudi glasbeno pravljico Izgubljeni slamnik v izvedbi Nine Peče Grilc in Andreja Fona.

Oprema: priporočamo lahko pohodno obutev, pa seveda nekaj malice in pijače za škratolovce, ki bodo navdušeno raziskovali čudovito naravo Šumberka.
