Parenzana je bila ozkotirna železnica, ki je med leti 1902 in 1935 obratovala na severozahodu Istre in povezovala pristanišči Trst in Poreč s kraji v notranjosti polotoka. V samo 33 letih delovanja je veliko prispevala k gospodarskemu napredku Istre, ker so po njej prevažali vino in oljčno olje iz okolice Buj in Motovuna, sol iz solin v Piranu in Sečovljah, istrski kamen, apno, premog in les, različne kmetijske pridelke in seveda potnike. 

Na svoji 123 km dolgi poti je mala železnica povezovala 33 krajev od Trsta do Poreča, tako da bi danes potekala po ozemlju treh držav : Italije – 13 km, Slovenije – 32 km in Hrvaške – 78 km. 

Tunel Valeta povezuje Portorož in Strunjan. Približno 3km dolg odsek poti od Portoroža do Strunjana, skozi tunel Valeta, je zanimiv tudi za otroke. Lahko ga prehodite, prekolesarite, ali pa se po njem spustite s skirojem.

Parenzana was a narrow-gauge railway, operating in the northwestern Istria between 1902 and 1935 and connecting the ports of Trieste and Poreč with villages and towns in the interior of the peninsula. In just 33 years of operation, the railway greatly contributed to the economic progress of Istria, transporting wine and olive oil from the surroundings of Buje and Motovun, salt from the salt-pans at Piran and Sečovlje, Istrian stone, lime, coal and wood, various agricultural products and, of course, passengers. 

On its 123 km long route, the small train linked 33 towns from Trieste to Poreč, so that today it would run on the territory of three countries: Italy – 13 km, Slovenia – 32 km and Croatia – 78 km. 

The Valletta tunnel connects Portorož and Strunjan. The approximately 3 km long section of the route from Portorož to Strunjan, through the Valeta tunnel, is also interesting for children. You can walk it, cycle it, or go down it with a scooter.
